Sage and Share Capital

I thought I was getting good with Sage but am stumped.

I have recently deposited a cheque from a share holder for £1 into the company bank account.  How should this entered into Sage?

I have thought about creating the share holder as creating customer and sending an invoice but am thinking there must be a more correct way with journals but am totally stumped.

Thanks in anticipation (and please assume I'm an idiot in any replies).

Kev

I should have added the cheque is their payment for their single share valued at £1.

Sorry

debit bank, cr share capital account (or make one) in the 3000 range, put the name of the Shareholder in the details.  Post as a "bank receipt".

Oh and tax code it T9.

Agree, as you're using Sage, enter as a bank receipt, tax code T9, nominal code 3XXX, description name of shareholder and number of shares.
