ICB Payroll exam

I need to pass payroll exam before I am allowed to offer payroll services.
At present am doing payroll for employers so dont need any training.
At present I dont have any payroll software to take the exam.

What have other members done?

Dont want to pay out too much money on software until I am ready to start using it.

Hi Jill

You could try down loading 12Pay and see how you get on with it (You can load up to 3 companies for the trial version).

You can download for free and should be able to produce all the payslips, P11,  and reports you need. The only draw back with the trial version is that you are limited to 6 payroll runs and then you can't print payslips but from memory, you don't need to run that many.

Once you've passed your exam, you can upgrade to the Premium, or Bureau editions depending on how many clients you get. The link takes you to the features page of the website

I use it for my clients and it is straight forward to use, and less fussy than Sage. Even if you paid for the Premium version, it's a cheaper option
