Student Book-kepper.. advertising guidance please!

Hi all

ive decided to go self employed in doing book - keeping  and VAT returns i am currently studying my final year of AAT.

I just wanted to ask peoples advise of how i should advertise... would i say i am a current student of the AAT? should i use a business card?

Personally, I wouldn't say I was a student.

As far as advertising goes I would look at:

Postcards/Flyers in local shops or post offices
Attend networking events (you'll need business cards for these)
Letter local businesses

I would avoid advertising in newspapers or yellow pages like the plague.

You may possibly want to look at a website and all the SEO that goes with it, but that can be expensive and it'll depend how deep your pockets are.

I am surprised that you have not covered MLR in your AAT studies. Is it not mentioned at all?
