What can I claim on laptop purchased in previous tax year
Permalink Closed

Hi,

I am currently filling in my short tax return for tax year ending 5th Apr 2010.

I purchased a laptop for £500 which I use for business purposes in Jan 2009 and didnt include this in my last tax return for yr end 5th Apr 09 which I filled in last year (stupid I know).

Can I claim anything back, even though it wasnt purchased in the tax year for which my current return is for, and if so can I include this as capital expenditure under AIA in my tax return. blankstare

Many Thanks

Gav

Hi Gav,

sorry you won't be able to claim AIA in the following year, though it is possible you could make a repair to the 2009 tax return and include it in that. Otherwise claim capital allowances of 20% (less any personal use...but you only use this for business don't you!!)
