How can I start my own book-keeping business
Permalink Closed

Hello All, I really need your help and advice. I am a Finance Analyst with one of the big 6 accounting firms. I have been workiing as an analyst for 9 years and i think its time for me to start something for myself. I am not sure as to how to start especially how to advertise my expertise and when to do it or even, how and where to let businesses out there know what I can do.

I would be grateful if I could get a bit of guidance from anyone in this forum.

Be prepared for a BIG dip in your earnings for a few years if you are changing to a career in bookkeeping. If you are looking to go self employed as a Finance Analyst then you will need to seek work from larger organisations/ accountants who may require your services. Best to test the water before doing anything rash!

Taking the leap from employment to having your own business is a big step and as Rob says, you can expect a big dip in your earnings. You need to work out your finances and to have a plan before you leave your job.

We have written a blog on things to consider when starting your new bookkeeping business which I hope will help you.

Starting your own bookkeeping business

Kind regards

Have a search through some of the posts. This question comes up here all the time. There's some good advice there.

You may also find some of the marketing ideas for starting your own bookkeeping business on my website useful. Link below. Good luck. I doubt you will ever want a 'real' job again once you make the leap :)
