Came here via a follow from The Book-Keepers Forum on twitter this morning. So pleased to have clicked the link, I have already found so much interesting and valuable information here in the threads. Thank you!
Thank you for the welcome Jymlyn, after reading some of the posts and comments I can see what a wonderful community and resource of useful information this place is. I have already found out so much, in just a few hours!
Hope you enjoy it here - it's certainly good for the soul. Hanging around, reading postings and asking questions and you soon get the definite impression that bookkeepers are uncommonly nice people
Thank you for the welcome, I find this place very interesting and very helpful. Most people here do appear very nice and friendly.
I am just starting out after deciding on a career change. Currently studying sage 50 at Monmouth. Enrolled before knowing the correct structure for studying :/
Hoping to start ICB level 1 or the AAT level 2! Decisions, decisions.
I've come from a career change too. This is my second year after qualifiying. I decided on the self-employed route and so chose ICB membership, though you'll see lots of discussion on the Forum over the pros and cons of the various alternatives. The chief thing, I think, is to belong to one. You'll see there's also a lot of discussion about training providers!
If you ever want to chat about the realities of being a bookkeeper around here - or just want to chat about bookkeeping and how to do it, how to set yourself up etc, email me and I'll give you my number. Always happy to share experience and make connections.
Hello Luther and welcome too. I have found this place to be amazing so far. It's great not only for information but real life experiences from others who are willing to share! Hope you find what you are looking for too!
Hello Quentin, I am sure I will love it here. I would also like to thank you for your guides, I visited your site and have found everything very interesting and useful. I also signed up to your free 12 week course, I am loving that too. Thanks!
'Just to let you know', theres a great website called 'accountingcoach' check this out if you want to pick up free extra info, it has some really useful tips and of course theres plenty of help here on the forum...Quentin has alot of great tips too..check his website out aswell..ok!.
Thanks Luther I had a quick look at 'accountingcoach' but will spend more time there having a look today. Looks great from what I have seen already :) I agree, Quentin's site has great tips!
It's a pleasure Quentin, thank YOU for your time and information :)
I had someone telephone me last week (Ross on Wye) looking for quarterly bookkeeping & vat return, and also self assessment, he's a pretty small business and recons it should take only about 2 - 3 hours / quarter (has had a bookkeeper for 6 years, but she's gone back to f/t employment).
Problem is I am not qualified for self assessment, and also as I work full time and do bookkeeping on the side, I tend to try to work from home (evenings & weekends) and he wants someone to go to his premises. I said I would see if I could find someone for him... so if anyone is interested please can you email me your contact details and i can pass them onto him? my email address lizshome@yahoo.com
