Hi I have an odd query! As AICB (with Practice Licence & PII) am I allowed to do Charitable Accounts?
I have an odd feeling that I have read somewhere that I can't do these unitil I get my level III
Can anyone clarify? I have just been offered a small local charity but don't want to accept until I am certain - mind you, without going back to them I am not 100% sure, yet, whether it is charitable or non profit.
Can't give you any info re ICB, however, I do work for two charities but both are ltd companies so they have to submit accounts and annual returns to companies house as well as to the charities commission.
The turnover of the charities affects what you have to submit to the charities commission.
You should not have to submit anything to HMRC.
But as I've said, it all depends on the legal status of the charity and its turnover. Also whether or not VAT registered and if so, if this applies to all business or partial (if partial it can be a nightmare to administer).
As I understand it you cannot do Charity Accounts, Partnerships, or Limited Companies with just AICB status, you need to upgrade to MICB which gives you more strings to your bow as far as attracting clients is concerned, if you are a member of the ICB it may be prudent to give them a call and just ask the question.
