Quick Question - VAT refund due - need to change bank account details

I have a friend who is due a refund of VAT for his last quarter but has recently changed his business bank account from NatWest to Lloyds. If you have online VAT with HMRC is there the facility to change the company bank details online? If not, who or where should my friend contact at HMRC to change their registered bank account details in order to receive the VAT refund to the correct bank account?

Hi Christine

According to the HMRC website its not possible to amend the bank details online. Your friend will need to speak to his bank to change this by the looks of it.

Thanks Jen.

Looks like if you register bank details online it is in order to pay VAT due by DD? I know in the past he has used Bill Pay to pay any VAT due rather than DD.
Think he will have to call the VAT helpline to find out how to change his registered bank details. Got a feeling they need it in writing.

I would call the HMRC helpline, number on the old VAT returns....
