Has anybody used the company www.thebestof.co.uk to advertise their services in their local area?
I was contacted a few weeks ago to see if I wanted to advertise in the bookkeeping and payroll section, but cannot decide if it's worth the money. I have been quoted £35 per month.
I have searched on google and the best of does seem to appear quite high in the listings.
Also like to hear about any other companies that would be worth considering instead of the best of.
Cheers

Let's share our experiences to help each other build our businesses
My hubby (a self-employed IFA) has used thebestof in the past. He's got a couple of bases around the country and uses a few online networks. He stayed with thebest of for about a year, and wasn't convinced of it in the end. He didnt have any confirmed leads but I guess for £35 a month it may worth a go.
When I (eventually) set up my bookkeeping business I may look into it. Not sure if theres one down here though.
I know the yellow pages gets some stick nowadays, but every year I continue with my little £300 advert and I estimate I obtain 5 to 10 clients each year from it.
A useful tip I got at a networking meeting, was that every business under the sun now places a colour advert. So last year I amended mine to be black and white only. I reckon this has increased my conversion rate by double this year. I'll be sticking with me b&w advert next year!
I've dropped the other local directories as the costs soon mount up. Never used thebestof but just had a look at their website and it looks quite good.
