Hi Tony the hash tag is #. It can be used to aid searching in respect of a particular subject. For example, a couple of weeks ago, the hash tag #taxreturn was quite common.

I don't use twitter for any bookkeeping purposes as some of the stuff I post is a bit barking mad - especially photographs and videos. It can be funny looking to see what's trending. For instance I saw Ashley Cole trending and thought "what's he been up to now" but for a change it was for a good reason he was trending. The news gets out a lot faster on twitter. I read about Gary Moore's death and for several hours refused to believe it as it wasn't being reported on mainstream news websites.

It can also give a shock when you see something like "RIP Neil Young" and you think it is the musician only to later find out it is a footballer. You can also tell which personalities are on tv. I'll bet you in an hours time Jacqui Smith will be trending in the UK.

EDIT : I was right. about JS trending. Anyone want to know this Saturday's lottery numbers?
