Where to go

I have been bookkeeping for 15years but in the current climate I feel its about time I got a formal qualification. I have researched & researched and have decided to go the the AAT as it opens up more options for me in the future.

I have had an advisor from the Home Learning College round to discuss the course and they have said I can go straight into Level 3 due my abilities and experience. Their fees include everything (the only extra costs would be if I needed to re-sit an exam due to failing but they won't enter me for an exam until they know I can pass comfortably with merit/distinction).

Has anyone got any experience with HLC. Is it a good place to go with? I really feel I need to decide for definite by the weekend so I can get started. I've just had no experience at all with Distance Learning providers.

Check out Eagle Education or Premier Training for AAT courses. I've heard some not-so-good news about HLC which put me off a bit.
I'm going with Eagle and using Kaplan Manchester for my exams (as stated in another post) Eagle seem to be cheapest too. checkout your nearest Kaplan or BPP centres for taking exams. Also read my topic "made up my mind" underneath this one as i have been given some excellent advice for starting at level 3

Hi Sam,

sounds as though you had quite a reasonable visit from HLC. I've heard nothing particularly amiss about HLC's training and they are recomended by the ICB probably for that reason. However where people have had issues with them is their fee's compared to fee's of other training providers and their occassionally dubious and pushy sales techniques. Although, maybe from your experience they are changing their approach.

Neil mentioned Premier who are also the one's that I would have suggested. I've spoken with Premier training before and they seem very professional. Have a look at their website and compare their prices against those that you've already been quoted.

Good luck with whatever route you choose,

all the best,

Shaun.
