Paternity Pay

Please could someone explain to me
I work part time      £98 pw
My pay will rise to £105 pw in the new tax year
I have a child due 2 / 07/ 2011
Have worked for my employer since June 2010
To qualify for paternity pay 2010-2011 you should have average earnigs of £97 pw
2011-2012 you should have average earnings of £102 pw
I thought I would qualify but having downloaded Basic Paye Tools it is calculating my average pay for 8 weeks from January to March when I earnt £98 pw and saying I havn't earned enough to qualify.  regards Aaron

The dates are fine as I started before 25th September 2010

I just copied this from a help manual from hmrc

Does your employee earn enough?
If the amount at 6:
is at least £97.00 gross a week for babies due between 18 July 2010 and 16 July 2011, or
is at least £102.00 gross a week for babies due between 17 July 2011 and 14 July 2012

I don't understand the July to July part, why not April to April ?
And since my child is due 2 July 2011 I should fall in the £97 bracket

I know its not a great deal of money but it bothers me I can't figure it out

just tried on basic paye tools and it works...did you check paid weekly at the beginning? it is set to monthly so you have to change it.
