I have IAB Level 2, AAT Level 2 and AAT Level 3. I will be going on to do CIMA after Level 4. But I've recently noticed ATT. Would it help to also have this qualification or is this only for people who want to specialise in tax?
keep your eye on what's happening with CIMA as their move away from the other accountancy bodies may change the way that employers look at that qualification. PQ magazine is always a good source for the latest on that front.
ATT is an excellent qualification which can open doors to being allowed to study towards CTA status. If you take that route though employers will be expecting you to go down the tax specialisation route.
Rob (userid Robh) on here is ATT and he swears by it. Certainly looking at his business model it hasn't restricted the variety of services that he offers. It's just strengthened the tax side.
However, it's no small commitment to go down that path so if you are thinking of going down the route of one of the higher accountancy qualifications (such as CIMA or ACCA) then I would stick just with that as believe me, there are not enough hours in a day for the study that you need to put in to get through their exams.
Guess who's going through another, "My brain isn't big enough for all of this" crisis at the moment!!!
all the best,
Shaun.

To be honest I didn't want to do CIMA but thats all my college provides and it was night school so saved me having to travel and do days. I was more interested in CIPFA but I find all the different qualifications confusing as all seem to be different. I can totally relate to the brain isn't big enough feeling haha!
