PAYE Year End - calculating weekly pay

I am PAYE and book keeping and have come across a query which I can't find the answer to so your help would be great!

Do you have to split a weekly pay in to each tax year given that the new tax year starts on a Wednesday?

No.

Weekly pay works on week numbers not dates! I would expect Wk 52 to end on the weekend before!

Sometimes because of the way the year works, we end up with Wk53 to adjust it back.

Thank you for your help. Sorry, I am new to this, so are we in week 53? I am stumped because on PAYE 2010 software I can add a week 53 upto 5th April but on PAYE Basic Tools for 2011 onwards they won't let me add week ending 8th April for week 1. Is this because I haven't done a year end for 2010/11 and how can I do that until I resolve this final week??
