I'm a member of the Sage bookkeepers club which lasy year I paid £499 inc vat  for a years membership (Software for which I can run five companies).

I have received a renewal reminder and this year they have "enhanced" the membership to give me more benefits (which I dont want) for £695 (dont know if vat is included)  The problem is that at the moment I only have two companies on my books.

Has anyone else received this reminder and what do they think about the large increase in costs?

That's was the main reason I didn't join the club, which has now been incorporated into the Accountants club.

While I like Sage generally, for me they are way too expensive.

Other than the software (and Sage Cover, I think) what other benefits do you get, and have you used them?

I never thought it was value for money, and was a bit like using a sledge hammer to crack a nut. Maunly because there were too many bells and whistles built into the software, that I would be unlikely to use, although that is mainly because of my client base.

Bill

No never used any of the benefits. I normally just go to my accountants and ask them for advice.

Have just phoned Sage and they knocked £100 of the price, but I told them its still to much

Hi there, I used to pay for a 5 company licence about 600ish with sage cover, but I asked them for a better deal and for the last 2 years I have been on sage 50 client manager, up to 25 companies with sage cover and it costs me 34.66 month, or I could have paid the full amount up front (but there is no credit charges for monthly payments), you need to be a self employed bookkeeper and when my upgrade came I had to do it online there was no disk, but not a problem.  Anyway hope this helps but I think it is worth checking out!!

Julies got a great price, Sage wanted £695 for me to renew my 25 client despite being a member for 4 years.

I too have received this renewal offer.  As a small self employed Book-keeper you don't use all the enhanced features  that are available in the "new upgrade" Accountants version.  I  think Sage need to consider the smaller self employed people and understand that they do not have the income of the larger firms and therefore cannot afford the massive increase.  Sage is promoted as being used by Small Business operators so why price themselves out of the market for the likes of us who are promoting their software!
