Hi all,

If you are working with incomplete records is there an allowance for lost receipts, if so how much or what percentage is this, please.

Many Thanks for your help in advance!

Hi Anya,

welcome to the forum.

there is no allowance but complimentary evidence such as a bank statements or credit card statements may in some circumstances suffice where the receipt / invoice has been mislaid.

If there were percentage allowances then people would try to sneak all sorts of small items through without a receipt (such as sandwiches and takeaways).

If the lost receipt is for an item such as a regular phone contract then entering the missing details would be reasonable and plausible (such as £50 receipt every month for a phone contract then one months receipt is missing but the money still comes out of the bank, then that is unlikely to be questioned). However, where the expenditure is perhaps for one off items such as office furniture or a computer you are much more likely to come unstuck with attempting such without a receipt.

kind regards,

Shaun.

Morning Attila,

thanks for that, I've read some of the sections before but never the whole lot

After having a quick scan it looks as though I should go through that lot with a fine toothcomb from A-Z but it's going to have to wait until June 16th as nights are already pretty sleepless on the run up to P2... Last night it was fun filled revision on share based payments.

Actually, on the EM3080 front. I was going to revise tax today (just from the reporting perspective) but that EM has reminded me that I've got to cover performance reporting so that's now my Sunday (and probably bank holiday Monday) sorted out.

Never a dull moment is there.... Wonder how many people who start out on this route would continue if they realised exactly how much continual unrelenting study was actually involved. At times it certainly has me beaten (at the moment any mention of group cashflows and I my stress levels go into the red).

Oh yes, for anyone else reading this the start page that you are looking for to access the EM's is here :

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/manuals/emmanual/Index.htm

Cheers again Attila, Its now on my to do list.

All the best,

Shaun.
