Is there a limit to whom tax returns can be prepared for under an AAT qualification
Permalink Closed

Hello,

I am in the process of starting book-keeping from home. I am AAT qualified and just wondered if I am able to do tax returns for all clients, be it soletraders or limited companies? I'm sure I was told whilst I was studying that with an AAT qualifiation you can only prepare tax returns for limited companies even though I studied personal tax and business tax. I understand that I will have to register with HMRC complete tax returns for clients..... Please could someone shed some light for me!

Thanks

Vicki

Hi Vikki,

If you are AAT qualified you can join their MIP ( members in practice) which is what I am.  You have to apply for membership and show what areas you have experience in, they then review your application and give you a license, which covers the skilled areas, I.e - book keeping, tax returns etc.

You have to pay a membership fee etc, you will need PII, and register with HMRC etc.

Hope this helps any questions please ask.

I started up in March this year.
