Can A Dispensation be Back Dated?

Hi, does anyone know if a dispensation for expenses (to avoid completing P11d's) can be backdated to the last tax year?

Hi Gill,

I don't think so, HMRC will backdate to the beginning of the tax year (*), but if you sent one in now, it would only be backdated to 6.4.11.

(*) this has happened in previous tax years, but they do stress that it is at their discretion.

From past experience dispensations had to be submitted by a certain date to take affect for the prior tax year. unsure if recent legislation is the same.
