Sage 50 - how do I correct a Journal transaction please?
Permalink Closed

Hi there,

I wonder if anyone could help please:

I use Sage 50, and there is a depreciation transaction I entered in the wrong nominal ledger code, it should be:

JC 0041 Fixture & Fittings £100

JD 8002 Depreciation F&F £100

crybut I entered as

JC 0041 Fixture & Fittings £100

JD 0042 Depreciation F&F £100

I went in the maintenance and try to correct it in the normal way, but it seems not letting me "Edit" or "Delete". This affects my P&L and Bal Sheet.no

What shall I do to correct this mess?

Help is mostly appreciated.smile

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry - just figure out how to balance this, I entered as

JC 0042 Depreciation F&F - Misposting £100

JD 8002 Depreciation F&F - Correction of misposting £100

This does help me to balance at the end but these corrections will show in my Audit Trail Report, which is not very nice to show as people can see I made a mistakebiggrin. Please advise have I corrected right? and is there another way to do it which does not show in the Audit trail report??

Many thanks

Anna

Hi Anna

Correcting journal is correct.

Unfortunately for journals in SAGE the only way you can correct is to do a reversing journal which will show up on your audit trail.

You cant correct or delete like you can for other SAGE transactions such as bank receipts/payments, purchase payments, sales receipts etc.

Hi Mark,

Thank you very much for your kind advice. I was worried that it would be the case, I guess I have to be very careful with Journals next time. Do you by any chance know that would I be marked down if this happens in exams? I am taking the computerised exam for ICB Level II next week, just wondered...

Many thanks,
Anna

Hi Anna

Havent a clue if you would be marked down.

If you have the correct result at the end of the day thats the main thing regardless of how you get there. So would think it harsh if your marked down.

Regards

MarkS
