Hello,

My husband-To-Be and I are setting up our own consultancy company for the Oil and Gas Sector (Drilling).  I currently in practice finance and he has his own Ltd company offshore...

I would like to look in to HR and employment law courses but there are a lot out there.  Can anyone suggest courses that will coincide with recruitment, payroll, bookkeeping, employment and contractural law etc.  I already have a AAT in Bookkeeping. 

Any advice / suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

by AAT in bookkeeping I'm reading AAT ABC rather than the AAT qualification?

You seem to have a real mixed bag of requirements there and from the sound of things you are more interested in gaining the knowledge than the qualifications.

For Employment and contract law ACCA paper F4 Corporate and Business law is an excellent choice and it certainly wouldn't hurt you to take ACCA papers F1, F2 and F3 to get all of the fundamentals of accountancy and bookkeeping before either continuing with the qualification or abandoning it when you've got from it what you need. (Its a serious qualification which will set you up to run a business by taking papers F1 to F9. Going beyond that into P1 to P7 may not be practical unless you intend to become an accountant).

For Payroll how about the ICB payroll qualification? Use either you AAT ABC or ACCA F3 to get exemption from ICB level I then I think that you can study for payroll without first having to take the ICB level II and III. Alternativel if you want to improve on your bookkeeping skills why not take the ICB level I and II anyway.

I'm stuck on a course based around recruitment but I'm sure that other on the site will have some suggestions.

Or....

Just thought, there are a series of books by BPP that support Business Essentials. The books are intended for those doing an HND, HNc or foundation degree in accounting.

The books cover Marketing, Sales, HR, Business Law, Commercial and Company law, finance.

Compared to ACCA the books are all very reasonably priced. In some cases they are simply cut down versions of the ACCA study materials whilst in others such as marketing they cover area's that the ACCA doesn't.
