Hi i have my first meeting tomorrow with a prospective client( first ever meeting or client )so i am rather nervous and my head has gone blank any ideas on the questions i would need to ask rather than me just sitting there looking through her books and basically telling her what i can do?
I pretty much "look through the books and tell them what I can do", usually having asked a client what they'd like me to do for them. If they're moving from another bookkeeper, I always ask why?. I usually find once you've looked at the books that inevitably leads to a few questions.
Good luck with your meeting.

Hi there Good luck with your client meeting. The first one is always nerve wracking but have confidence in your own abilities and you will be fine. Effectively you are only telling the client what you are able to do and asking them what they want from you, in a practical way as well as actual bookkeeping. So for example ask about things like regularity of communication (I have some clients I don't speak to often between quarterly VAT returns and others I speak to 3 times a week), their information requirements etc. Ask if they're VAT registered and if they run payroll, do they want you to take care of those too. I'm sure I'll think of more and will post back later if I do You will be fine, good luck. Clare
