Sage 50 Accounts 2011
Permalink Closed

Hi Guys,

Im currently studying sage 50 accounts as part of my course, just finished day 1 yesterday and baffled by it a little. confuse Anyway my question is i have to visit the training centre to do the course which is a 2 hour round trip which is fine but what i wondered is how much is it roughly to buy Sage 50 2011 and if i bought it just to practise on for now would it be ok for that? I just dont want to complete the course and forget most of it while im hunting for a job in this industry. It could take a while. Im going to complete the sage course i just wanted to continue studying when im finished it as the trainer provider doesnt give you the DVD. Im sure i read somewhere that there is an annual fee for the having sage is that right? or was i mistaken. I'd really like to stick with what ive learned so far as i know there are other options as well but i dont want to confuse my brain trying to learn other packages just yet. Hope you can help!

Thanks

Lyns

You can buy it from around £325 and you only need to pay an annual fee if you take our Sage Cover but Sage only support any version of their software for 5 years. If you just want Sage to study with why not look on Amazon for the Sage training packs which include a copy of Sage (limited functionality but sufficient for training) which is licensed for 180 days - the packs are in levels and the price fluctuates you can sometimes get them for as little as £25.

Hi

Thanks for that, i think ill go for the training pack from Amazon as its cheaper and just for learning. What did you mean by licenced for 180 days?

Thanks

Lynsa

Means you can use it for 180 days from first putting it in your machine. Although I believe that if you uninstall it you can re-install and have a further 180 days!!!

Hi Lynda,

the £25 one's have all gone now (they were Sage 2007).

The 180 day versions don't have much missing functionality. Just a few lesser used reports are missing. Everything is in them though in order to get through the ICB exams and the course in a box comes with Sage certification.

They come in three levels all with a 180 day trial of the software (not for commercial use though).

I did the reinstall on an old machine but the original countdown was still ticking away (must be something in the Windows registry that you need to change to reset it). However, not sure whether it's been changed or not in later versions to restict you but if you change your machine as I have and reinstall the software on that then the 180 days definitely starts again.

If I were to suggest that you bought a version of the course in a box it would be level II. level I is too simple and level III is stock control and other advanced features. All three versions have the same 180 day trial software but the workbooks that come with level II may be more useful in your studies.

Here's a link to the 2011 version :

kind regards,

Shaun.

Hi Lyns,

I too have recently been training on Sage, and I found that on the sage website, you can download a trial for free that you can mess around with while practicing without fear of making any mistakes. It's definately worth a look at, even if it's not exactly what you're looking for. I suggest you check it out.

Cheers

Hi Lyns,

I have both Sage instant and Sage 50, I'm yet to notice a huge difference.

For training purposes there's little difference, however, on Instant I do miss the memorise and recall functions - saves loads of time with journals and invoices
