just stumbled across this website and thought i'd ask for some advice.
my friend has recently opened a salon and has asked me to do her accounts as i'm AAT qualified (not registered though)
am i ok to do her accounts or not? i'm not charging her for it (just doing it out of the goodness of my heart and to get more experience) she's a small business with just her and her friend renting a salon, maybe looking to employ a junior at some point.
she has a cashbook which can list all her income, expenses etc plus a space at the bottom to reconcile it all. Will i be ok to prepare her accounts purely off this?
i've told her to keep all receipts etc and store them away each month.
A till-roll is handy in small shops and operating a dedicated business bank account too can help satisfy HMRC should there be any enquiry. If these are already in place, then, of course, you can double check the entries against the cash book. best wishes Tim
