Given wrong year end
Permalink Closed

Hi,

I was given a job to input on Sage but the accountant gave me the wrong date for tear end.  It should have been 30 April Y/E but I was told 30 June.

I entered the Bank as opening Bal on 1 July and have recd to end of April then realised.

What would be the implications if I now change the year end on Sage?  Would I be able to change the O/B at the Bank on 1 May or will this cause havoc with what I have done so far?

Help!

Regards,

Tony.

I have a feeling that with Sage you have to get them to change the year end, and they charge you for it!

Hi Tony

You can change the year end in Sage without having to contact them

You open Sage, then go to Settings, Financial Year and this will show the date from which the financial year is supposed to start and there is an Ok box or Change box, click on Change , You are then prompted to run two further tasks, ANother prompt stating All nominal historic data will be cleared Are you sure you wish to continue Yes or No, If you click Yes you can then change the start date of the financial year.

You may have to re-enter any opening balances

Take plenty of backups before you proceed with any of this

Regards

Mark

 Hi Mark,

I think this depends on the version of Sage you are using.  You definitely can't just change the Year start date in Sage Instant.
