Payroll systems

Hi, can anyone please recommend a good free payroll system that does everything including directors or an inexpensive one for small business with less than 5 employees? I'm used to working on Sage, but my clients don't necessarily want to purchase this. Many thanks

Hi Andrina, there are a lot of threads on this subject if you have a search, the usual suspects are Moneysoft and 12Pay which are both popular reasonably priced systems.

Hi Adrina,

just to add to Jenny's post. You can get free one month trail versions of both 12pay and Moneysoft to see which one feels best for you.

To be honest there isn't a lot between them.

If you need CIS its an add on for 12pay where it's part of the core product with Moneysoft. However it's a very cheap add on and the Money soft base product is very slightly more expensive so they come out pretty close on price anyway.

If Sage payroll was the same price as Moneysoft, personally I would still choose Moneysoft. (I know that Bill (Wella) swears by 12pay in a similar sort of way).

As I say, try both and decide which one feels right for you as sometimes it's not all about the list of features but the user interface and what is right for one person might feel terribly wrong to the next.

Hope that helps,

Shaun.
