Note book versus sage software Nightmare!
Permalink Closed

Please can someone computer savvy help with my new dilema. Recently purchased sage software to practice on in run up to exam and had problems initially after installation which is now sortedbiggrin But i now have a new problem, i have a small note book and when i open up sage and  try to enter company details that bits ok, but after keying in the VAT reg number im supposed to click ok to carry on. Im following a lesson plan on audio just so you know. But the ok button doesnt appear on the bottom of the screen and ive tried everything to get it on the page but to no effect. Im desperate to get going but unless i can move on from this bit right at the beginning im not going to be able to train myself and its driving me nuts having just spent money on the softwarefurious please does anyone have any ideas that i could try as im now lost and sad and bored and will never pass my exam if i cant even get started

thanks

lyns

Hi Lyns,

before trying any advice I need to know what operating system you are using?

Also, got to go for about half an hour but will log back in in a bit.

(if it means anything to you, I think that you need to be running the software windowed but if it doesn't mean anything to you I'll talk you through it in a bit when I know what operating system I'm working with).

Hope to talk in a bit,

Shaun.

Hi Shaun

Bye operating system do you mean windows 7 as thats what i have. Well when i say thats what i have it was actually windows 7 starter which ran out a while ago and i just recently purchased and installed microsoft home and student 2010. Not sure if that what you were looking for. As far as Sage is concerned i have installed Sage instants 2011. Dont know how to run the software windowed as im a novice really with IT anyway ill wait for your response. Might not be around myself soon but i will look out for your reply.

Thanks

Lynda

Hi

I was a Sage Consultant in a former life!  I think you will probably need to uninstall and reinstall your software.  I can help you with this if you'd like my help feel free to contact me and we can arrange to go through it.

Do you have it installed on another PC somewhere too?  Valid serial key and activation code.  Remember you can only have one version of instants on a machine.

Let me know

smile

Hi Guys

I appreciate your help but while i was waiting i went onto the net and googled my problem and discovered through this that if i changed my resoltion size it may show the ok button that was of the screen, so i tried it and it worked. It has made everything smaller which is a pain as the note book screen is small enough but at least i can continue with my studies. Thank god!!!! Shaun appreciate your help. And Jemma as you were a sage consultant before may i ask you another question? Can i install the progam on another laptop or will i need another activation key for that? Also when i registered my software i had a seriel nmber and an activation key with it but for some weird reason i have had an email from sage saying thanks for registering and here is your activation key which is not the one i have???? Also every time i open sage it says you have 30 days left you have 29 days left. Not sure what happened there. Any ideas.

Cheers
Lyns

Hi Lynda,

before going down Jemma's path, just try the following.

go to the launch icon on the desk top.

right click it.

go down to properties and click on that

under shortcut where it gives the launch path in quotes try suffixing the name (after the quotes, don't change anything that's already there) with -W (make sure that there is a space between the close quotes and the -W

It might be that it makes no difference but it's worth a try.

As it's instants 2011 it shouldn't be a compatability issue that you have to for now we'll just stay with runing it in Windowed mode and see where we go from there.

As Jemma is an expert on the software she may know better what you need to do. My responses are more generalised.

Hope that this helps,

Shaun.
