I was just looking on there and about to fill in my details to join up (I figured I should do it as my PII is coming up for renewal and would like a good deal ). I just have a question - why does it take £23.99, then £0.01 after 11 months?
As mentioned we use PayPal to process membership subscriptions. The recurring PayPal subscription function requires that the payment be spit into two amounts, £23.99 and £0.01p to be taken 11 months apart for new subscriptions (i.e. new members).
This is due to PayPal's requirements for a 'Trial Period' and a 'Regular Payment' for new recurring subscriptions. Following the first year PayPal is able to bill one payment of £24 per annum going forward.
I appreciate it's a bit convoluted and we're looking into simplifying the process.
If you have any questions please do feel free to phone the BKN office.
We use PayPal Adaptive Payments for our Australian office, you can set an imediate payment then a recurring payment, and how often the payment is taken (weekly, monthly or annually).
So your imediate payment could be £24, then set the recurring payment at £24 and schedule at annual.
Then just increase the payment amount by your membership fee increases each year.
I think the recurring payments is only for monthly which is why it will only let you set the payments 11 months appart instead of 12.
Or change it and take £2 per month but probably wont be worth your while doing that.
