I am doing the AAT Level 2 Award in Bookkeeping (ABC) . The course provider is BPP and home based.
Looking at BPPs website I cannot find how I go about taking the exam. Can anyone direct me to the correct link?
But also:
Do I need to register with the AAT to sit BPPs book keeping exam?
Is the level 2 certificate in accounting (level 5 in scotland) the same thing/ equivalent to an AAT Level 2 award in book-keeping (QCF) in England, Wales and NI?
If I pass the BPP AAT course can I progress to level 3 AAT? I have book keeping work experience.
I have had similar questions and I have to say neither the AAT nor BPP make it easy to find out! I can't answer all of your points, but I can do a few:
Exam centres - you have to find an exam centre that will accept outside candidates. I called the AAT who gave me 4 or 5 exam centres close to me and I have now selected Fosseway Training in Swindon who is the most convenient for me to get to. I am just finalising dates, but this particular centre seems very flexible.
Registering - I also asked AAT whether I had to register and they said yes, which I did online. However, when registering, there is a question about exam you are planning to take and bookkeeping didn't appear on the list, so I just selected one of the 2 options (Access course I think). You have to pay for membership which was not what I was told when I called, but I was beginning to lose patience, so just paid up!
When you book your exam, the centre will ask for your AAT membership number (10 digits).
Hope this helps - there is plenty of scope for AAT and BPP to make their information clearer. I'm glad it isn't just me!
