I'm not sure whats happened but I haven't opened my sage software for a while, but after having problems with my mouse on the laptop I noticed that my icon on my desktop for sage had changed from the norm to a white square file type thing, anyway I've double clicked on it and the flash screen just opens for a second
I remember something like this happening a long time ago and think it was something to do with either where the shortcut's target is pointing to and/or opening in and/or some file extensions ???
Hi, yes I think the target is looking in the wrong area.
Here is the shortcut's properties, however I do have a couple of copies installed along with a payroll and payroll practice, just to add to the confusion.
What would be a great help if somebody could tell me where their shortcut is pointing to ie whether it should be sage sbd or company.000 or ????
The Target line should also have -SBDSingleApp at the end of it with a space between } and -SBDSingleApp
Just a quickie, I don't suppose that you've upgraded from XP or Vista to Windows 7 have you as that can sometimes cause confusion with some single user licence pieces of software that think that they've been moved to a different machine.

Have you tried checking windows explorer, to make sure the *.exe file is still in the path specified in the shortcut? You can click on "find target" when you open the shortcut properties.
I run Sage via a Virtual XP machine on a Mac , but my shortcut properties look the same as you've quoted.

Hi, thank you for your reply.
I have added -SBDSingleApp to the target line, but it's still only just showing the flash screen for a couple of seconds.
No upgrade - have been running Windows 7 for some time, just the usual windows updates.

Hi, have done the above and it's there, not much else in that file though other than various sbd files thank you
I have had numerous problems opening Sage and some of the Kaplan online material since Windows 7 upgraded to Internet Explorer 9, since finding out that if you disable 3rd party browsing extensions under internet tools and disable popup blocker everything seems to work fine. (click on:- Tools, Internet options,Advanced, uncheck the box for:enable 3rd party browsing extensions and then restart puter) dont know if this helps the problem but explorer 9 has a problem with flash player/java.

A Windows update caused this on my old machine. I rolled back to a previous system restore point and everything worked perfectly. I never discovered which Windows update it was that caused it though, sadly so I can't tell you that. I then disabled Windows updates until I changed machines and now run Sage on a virtual machine running WIndows 7 on a MacBook Pro. Funny thing is whenever I have a problem it's Windows based, not Mac OS!
