Hi I have a client who is a website designer. Would code74100 specialised design activities be the correct code for a web designer. That is the only code I can see there that is the most relevant.
Would code 74100 specialised design activities be the correct code for a web designer.
If you look at the SIC 2007 index, you'll see that 'specialised design activities' includes things like furniture, jewellery, and clothes design.
I would use either 62012 (Business and domestic software development) - which actually includes web page design - or 62090 (other information technology and computer service activities).

I agree with Robert that 62012 should be the way to go (as this is an old 7222 activity (one of those on my companies list of services)).
62012 covers :
72220 Business and domestic software development 72220 Custom software development 72220 Data analysis consultancy services 72400 Database structure and content design 72400 Designing of structure and content of business and domestic software databases 72400 Madetoorder software 72220 Programming services 72220 Software house 72220 Software systems maintenance services 72220 System maintenance and support services 72220 Systems analysis (computer) 72220 Web page design
I think that 62090 is intended for those project managing IT system implementons and offering data backup services so I wouldn't go with that one.
Might be worth running 63110 past your client to see if they need that one as a secondary classification.
63110 cover :
72300 Batch processing 72300 Data conversion 72300 Data preparation services 72300 Data processing 72400 Data storage services 72400 Database running activities 72300 Tabulating service 72300 Time sharing services (computer) 72300 Web hosting
They can of course always add services at a later stage to maybe just 62012 for now.
kind regards,
Shaun.
