Previous Year's Accounts off Sage
Permalink Closed

Please can anyone help.  I am new to Sage, and am working on a Client's very very old Sage system.  I am in their current year, but want to view and print out the accounts from the previous year (a year end was done and backed up).

How can I view last year's accounts if they have already had an 'end of year' done.

Thanks - to anyone who can help

Hi

As far as I know, the only way to do that once an end of year has been done, is to restore from the back up taken immediately prior to the end of year.

So, you'll need to take a back up of where you are now, then restore to prior to end of year back up, than after you have looked at last years stuff, restore back to the back up that you have taken of where you are now.

Hope that makes sense

Helen

Hi Helen - thanks so much for your reply.  That makes me feel better, as that is what I did today. I restored the last year (1.6.10 - 31.5.11).

Except that, having restored it, I couldn't find the right report that would give me the full year's accounts.  All reports just said that I could have the info for the last 6 months, ie 1.6.11 to now......

Sorry, that sounds very confusing! Any ideas (sorry to ask you again!)

Henrietta

Hmm, bit puzzled!

The only thing I can think is that maybe you restored to a back up taken immediately after end of year? What was the start of financial year showing at the bottom right of the screen?

very good point!  I am back with the Client over the next couple of days so will have a look.  Think I might have restored one that was the 'backup after 31.5.11' - as in the one done after the year end was run!

Thanks again - will let you know what happens....

Have you checked if the previous person archived at the year end ? file open archive company. If they did it will be nicely sitting there - archive can be viewed but not adjusted.
- if really stuck I could see if restore on my machine for you and make an archive up.

Hopefully they archived.

Thanks Donna,

Unfortunately I think they only did a back up...I checked the archive file and it was empty. I think that I have managed to save the backed-up files to an external drive, and have given this to the accountants....The Client's computer server is unfortunately about 20 years old, and so it is very difficult to get it to save to external drives, when it won't even recognise a USB stick!

Thanks for your help.

Henrietta
