lol...

Are crisp sandwiches just a Midlands thing?

When I worked in Edinburgh they had never even heard of them... Nor Banana Custard for that matter.

The French have got nothing on Birmingham for the very best cuisine!biggrin

Good god no. I used to have them for lunch every day, because I had to make my own lunch.

I really like a sandwich with ham and walkers cheese and onion crisps.

Ah, that's something else that I wouldn't pick anyone else on... Spelling!... All things considered not really my subject at all!!!!

I do seem to write an awful lot for someone who can't see spelling issues.

Must be I'm just trying to keep my average down by always writing 200 words 10 would suffice.

No.

I've had them myself. I tend to completely crush the crisps.

So it's a Midlands and Ayrshire thing.

I suppose this thread would give them amunition. I mean, let's face it, a bookkeeping forum and we're discussing crisp sandwiches.

I tried something new (for me) the other day. A toast sandwich. Never in my 46 years have I had one.  They were mentioned on the BBC News website so I had to try it out.

Aye well, it shows how comfy we are with each other that we don't need to point score. I bet this thread makes a comment though.

Sorry Shaun, there have been a few heated debates on the ICB forum today incase you wonder what this is about.

Sorry for the delay in reply.

just had to pop accross there to have a look what was being said.

Darn it, I just took their stats up!

I assume that the post that you were refering to was the websites one (I just looked for the thread with the most posts in it today).

You just stick here matey's. We're a freindlier bunch and we've got members of every major body to debate matters completely freely, rather than just one bodies members.

I know that James won't say so but I bet he likes it better over here as well cos we've got a recent posts button and they haven't! (or at least I couldn't find one when I just took a look).

They do, they just hide it well, from the forum home choose "Latest Topic Updates"

To be honest there were a few. My fav comment was:

"There is another bookkeepers forum that is busier and I have read it. I have never posted on it. I am not saying all the answers by any means , but some of them have been very questionable. There have been in the past plenty of nasty comments on that forum.

I had concerns about that forum especially with questions about Sage. Where people gave bizzare answers I cannot believe they even used the package. I personally do not have a problem with less questions as it allows for more detail and precise answers for members."

Can't think who they are referring to??

Just had to go and read that thread over on the ICB site...

Well, bit of an eye opener. we're being refered to as an an unfreindly bunch yet we try our best to give open, unbiased and helpful advice to everyone who asks for it and they all seem to be tearing into each other and talking about going on about liable and deformation of character!

Pots and kettles come to mind here.

Appologies to everyone for taking their stats up by two hits. Promise not to do it again because for the life of me after reading those two threads I cannot think of any reason that I would actually want to visit that forum again.

Up until reading that thread I thought that Accountingweb could be a bit unfreindly!

Some very nice, well constructed parry's over their from the Ayrshire boys I have to say!

Thank you Shaun, though I think having gone up against the big boys our fate is sealed. You may have noticed how I defended this forum which at one point banned me, ahem!

I don't know whether you noticed but there appears to be an obvious hierarchy across there that just isn't present on this particular forum. Like you say you thought Aweb was bad, even UKBF can be, but they do it with humour.

I feel I'll stick here, not that I post there often.

Oh my I need a crisp sandwich now! Only 1 hr 10 till my lunch!
Not sure you need to worry about bumping up hits on the other forum Shaun, almost 1 million hits already.
I guess with all professional bodies you get some members who think members should act a certain way, and more often that not that certain way varies between the some.
I have seen bickering on this forum, but I guess they just leave after a while. With a professional body it is a little more personal, so everyone gets invovled which might not help the situation.
Back to subject, I was born in Wales and moved down south east and was suprised people had not heard of banana custard!
Perhaps my lunch will be crisp sandwich followed by banana custard biggrin

The way I do it is to make the custard, then cut a banana into slices and drop them in, then serve.

You can put the banana in before you heat the custard if you prefer softer banana, or put them in just before serving to have them more solid.

I'm in the south east and we always had banana custard after our sunday roast. Myself and my friends used to always empty our crisps into our sandwiches at lunchtime at school too.

Hmm one of the longest threads I've read today, and it's about crisps!!

Hedgehog flavoured crisps - suitable for vegeterians.

Cheese and onion - not

Real Hedgehogs taste like Rabbit (managed to bring rabbit into the conversation), or so I've been told wink.gif

Curious about the "other" forum, going to have a peak in a min.
