Sage vat return - find items included?
Permalink Closed

Hi all,

I was hoping sopmeone could help me, i have just run the vat return on sage Instant.

We are on cash accounting and my employer would like to see what items i.e. paid sales and purchase invoices are included in the vat return calculations, does anyone know how to find this out?

I clicked to reconsile at completion of the vat return so other than going through the list of transactions in maintenance and looking for the correct date and an 'R' next to it i dont know how to find out?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Many thankssmile

If you didn't print out or save the detailed VAT report (that shows all of the transactions going into the VAT return), can you not just re-run the VAT return for the quarter?  You'd need to tick the 'include reconciled' box.  If the re-run VAT return gives you the same figures as before (which it should do, unless you had unreconciled items from a prior quarter) you can then print off the reports that you need.

Hi Kim,

Re-run the VAT return for the period wanted than click on print and tick the options VAT return and detailed. This will print you the VAT return and all the transactions included in that return.

Hope this helps.

Hi to all,
Slight err to caution on re-run as above as if you had items included from a previous period (entered late so not declared at required time) it would not include them.
Other options:
did you take a back up first? if so re-run
could use search in audit trail for all items reconciled on the said date - download to excel (file /office integration / contents to excel)

if a later version the vat return would still be there so can enter and re-print.

Little lesson for future though - you should always print all 3 reports atleast to PDF and a back up first is handy

good luck

Hi donna, Thanks for your input! I did take a back up first, I did a re run this morning to get a print out and all figures were the same as the first time so hopefully it won't have altered anything. I will definately remember to print off all copies in future. I was interested in your suggestion of downloading from sage into excel, how would I go about that? X x

glad to be of help Kim,
its really easy to send the reports to excel and works from most places. example open a customer activity. Using the FILE button top left = file / office integration / contents to excel.

(you may have to close the activity report from large as you wont be able to see the file buttom)

works with loads of the reports.
