Below is a notice from the ICB about unscrupulous companies cold calling, they may be calling other bookkeepers not just ICB members:
URGENT NOTICE BEWARE
Members of the ICB should be aware that companies purporting to be supported by the ICB are approaching members to take advertising space in a range of diaries, year books or other publications. These are often for seemingly good causes, such as the Police Federation Year Book, but please be aware that these advertising sales organisations do not have ICB support.
The ICB does not give out your details to any third party, other than if required to by Law or if it has permission from the member.
These organisations seem to be targeting professionals who mention, either in advertising or directories, that they are part of a professional body, such as the ICB, and then lead the person to believe that their professional body has passed on their name to the organisation.
ICB members are advised not to purchase advertising space from unsolicited and unverified sources, and to contact their local trading standards team who will be able to investigate any concerns.
