Hi with the AAT once completed you can obtain a practising certificate, however unsure about where you would stand with it in america and australia. Might be an idea to phone AAT and speak to them.

I know for ACCA it is a global qualification so would go whereever one went

Hi There,

Welcome to the forum!

The course will teach you to be a bookkeeper, you could continue your studies afterwards to become an accountant with IFA, ACCA etc.

The qualification wont be recognised in America, their bookkeeping principles are quite different to here in the UK so you would need to do another course and get a local qualification.

It probably wont be recognised in Australia either, although their bookkeeping is similar to ours their tax and legal system is different.

If you are thinking of moving country soon why not do an American or Australian distance learning course to start with. Saves re training later on. Most course providers will send course material overseas.

If you are thinking of moving to Australia you could do the ICB (Institute of Certified Bookkeepers) examinations whilst you are in the UK.#

Hope this helps

Hi JamesUtd16,

In answer to your query regarding your IAB qualifications and where they can lead to if you click on the link below it will take you to the 'Exemptions' info on the IAB website which also includes University Entry. In short they can lead to exemptions from some of the professional papers of the ACCA, ICAEW, CIMA, CIPFA, IFA, AAT and CIPP.

http://www.iab.org.uk/qual_exemptions.asp

Obviously they can also lead to full professional membership of the IAB!

I hope this helps.
