I have a client who has donated nearly 3,000 to a number of charities in 2010/11. Is there a beneficial way of entering these amounts on to her tax return.

Is your client self-employed, individual or company? HMRC's charity help line is probably a good starting point: 0845 302 0203 give them a ring and they will help you. Regardless, you only going to be able to claim anything if the charities are recognised by HMRC (they must have a HMRC charity reference number).
