Starting a childcare voucher scheme
Permalink Closed

We're looking at setting up a childcare voucher scheme for one of my clients, a small limited company. Does anyone do this, can you give me any practical suggestions eg how to produce the actual vouchers and pay the childcare providers etc? When I try to search for information all I get are lots of companies who would are promoting this as a service they offer, but we want to do it ourselves.

Thanks

Hi Ruth

I do the books for a fairly large nursery, and have to admit that I don't see any childcare vouchers come direct from companies - all are via the various providers. Also, in the approximately 250 voucher payments each month, there is only 1 that is an actual voucher, all the rest are e-vouchers - so basically an electronic system rather than actual vouchers.

HMRC lay down the conditions for how the schemes must work, so you may find this Helpsheet useful, and it also gives links to other sites that can help.

Good luck

Helen

I know when I worked for the local authority they would not even try it themselves. They all use busybees round here.

Hi there, I organised a voucher scheme for one of my clients, they were called accor but now called edenred.  They were most helpful in setting up scheme and explaining how it all worked.  If you type into google Edenred childcare Sheme should pull up website, also link below may help.  There contact number for sales is 0843 453 4406

After researching on behalf of a client the best price I found was Kiddivouchers.

Admin fee is only 2.5% which was very competitive and they donate atleast 5% of profit to child related charities.

I do the vouchers for 3 of my Limited company clients, each with 1-2 members who use them. Its really easy. Just make sure the voucher has dates, authorsation info etc on it, then you can create it yourself. Its only if you have a lot of employees that its makes it worth while getting it done via one of the schemes. Producing 5/10 vouchers a week yourself is easy. 250 would be a nightmare.
