Yep, This old chestnut has been thrown at me when telphoning potetial new clients.

Sadly ''the wife'' usually hasn't had any training and doesn't have a clue half the time... hence a book keeper being drafted in when things go off course!

People!

Hi Rob, I'm a sucker for noticing spelling mistakes, I've took a look at your website, hope you don't mind and have noticed the small print at bottom, (word management) is spelt incorrectly.

Thanks, and no I don't mind. I did notice a couple of spelling mistakes the other day on the service pages. They are on my to do list but blogging kind of took over! If you see any more please let me know.

I tend to notice them too.... and couldn't help picking out the 'took'. It should be 'taken'. :)

Verb: take a look1.Look at with attention
"take a look at this!";
- have a look, get a load

Derived forms: took a look, taken a look, taking a look, takes a look

took, taken? Hmmmmmmmmm!

(1) "Taken" is the past participle of "take." (take/ took/ taken)

(2) We use the past participle:

angel after the auxiliary verb "have:"

idea I have already taken that class.

(ii) She has already taken her kids to school.

(iii) We had taken the wrong road, so we had to turn around.

(b) in the passive:

idea I take my coffee with cream. = My coffee is taken with cream.

(ii) She took the last piece of pie. = The last piece of pie was taken by her.

Errrrrrrrrrrr english is a crazy language, this was an explaination taken from another forum, it makes no sense to me. evileye
