Are HMCTS payments for travel taxable?

Are payments for travel reimbursement by HM Courts and Tribunals Service taxable for self assessment purposes?

A quick search on Google and HMRC didn't come up with anything, so thought I'd ask here before I ring up.

No, I don't think reimbursement of travel expenses would be taxable.  The HM Revenue & Customs guidance states that payments for loss of earnings are taxable but this isn't the case for payments that don't 'fill a hole in the profits' of the trade.  The guidance gives a daily subsistence allowance as an example of a non taxable receipt.

Thank you muchly. I know it's a duty and all that but since I didn't get any income for 2 weeks because of jury service, I wasn't much looking forward to paying tax on the travel reimbursement.
