Sage/VT problem

Morning guys. I have a client who only requires me to do their books once a month, so a small job. The problem I have is that their previous bookkeeper used Sage Line 50 and so does the clients accountant. I have got VT. I really, really do not want to spend £800 + on Sage for one client so what do I do?

Question for Sage (cos I know you read the postings on this forum)

Why don't you do a version for bookkeepers  where you can have a max of say 3-5 clients and charge us less for it?

Georgie

Extract the latest trial balance from sage and input it into VT. Remember the personal ledgers.

Morning Kris,

Yes, I was aware that you can do that but somebody told me that because the accountant uses Sage then year end is a problem and causes them more work because it's not just a matter of emailing the file to them?

I would suggest if the accountant is worth their salt they can prepare the final accounts from a trial balance. Or they could spend a little on VT final accounts. #

I had similar with an accountant last year who wanted to sell me quick books because thats what he used. I told the client quite simply that this is the software I use. If he wanted me to use quickbooks I'd charge him the extra costs and process time. The client ended up telling the accountant that this is what was happening or he'd find a new accountant.

Just my experience.

I didn't think you could convert Sage Line 50 into Instant??

I do think sometimes, not a lot but it does happen.

Can convert - a lot of my customers purchase the basic instant and I use the client manager which is basically Sage 50. You just have to be careful of the versions. you must check which version of sage50 they are on prior to purchasing and I would definately not encourage you to try beating the system by using it for more than 1 company as data attachments do get transferred.

if you find out the version I will check out which version of instant you require. The numbers do not always ensure compatibility (ie 2010 may not work with instant 2010).

good luck with your new adventure.

Good weekend all

Thank you Donna, that is very kind of you. However, I think I may have lost this client to someone who has Sage. But if they do call me back I will take you up on your offer.

Best wishes

Georgie
