Sage - new code set up keeps on disappearing

I set up a new code under 'Settings/Configuration/COA, and then 'apply' and 'save'. But when I try to find it when I post an invoice, it's not there!

Have I done anything wrong? I'm sure I'm allowed to add new code if I need.

If you're trying to set up a new nominal code, then you need to go to the 'nominal ledger' screen and click 'New' in the toolbar.  If the new nominal code isn't covered by the existing chart of accounts, then you'll need to amend the chart of accounts.
