Exam - update

Shaun,

I have seen the second Pilot paper - long question one, but I thought that one has not been officially issued yet....

I have not done it as I did not want to get myself confused if it not the exam format....yet. On the ACCA web site it only directs me to the standard 50 question one.....

But not sure now what the exam format is - do you know?

BJ

Hi BJ,

December was the last sitting with the longer style questions so worry not.

I did need to just pop off and confirm the new format for myself and found this that may put your mind at rest :

Exam is 2 hours long

Completely objective based and NO subjective or longer style objective questions.

Exam is available in two styles i.e. Paper based and Computer based. Both styles will have objective type questions. That means types of questions will be the same whatever style is selected i.e. with the change in exam style exam format will NOT change.

Exam consists of 50 OBJECTIVEquestions in which:
Each question will be of shorter version objective type question
40 questions are of two marks; and
10 questions are of one mark

Passing percentage is 50%

Exam questions cover the whole syllabus without any weightage given to specific topics

Hope that puts your mind at rest,

kind regards,

Shaun.

2 minutes 24 seconds per question, does anybody actually complete an exam? i can see 50% being a hard target just from the time given never mind the quality and complexity of the questions.

Hi Neil,

from F4 the questions change format to essay style. There is 15 minutes reading time at the start of the exam and then 3 hours to do the paper (the extra 15 mins was brought in in 2007.

Each paper tends to be one or two compularay questions in sections A and then three of four or five questions in section B.

As you've spotted the ACCA exams are very, very time pressured which frustrates the hell out of me as I just can't get the answer that I want down on paper fast enough.

The way that you are supposed to work it is to aim to average one valid point every 1 minute 48 seconds. I've really got to get into that mindset rather than giving the sort of answers that I give on here!

Hey BJ. I totally get your concern. It's confusing when you're not sure about the exam format. I'd suggest reaching out directly to ACCA for clarification. They should be able to provide accurate information about the format, especially if it's not officially issued yet. As for preparing, sticking to the standard 50-question format for now might be the safest bet.

By the way, when you're prepping for exams and need some extra support, I found essay writers for hire really helpful. They offer essay writing services that can take the edge off during stressful times. I've used them before and their quality and reliability were top-notch. Might be worth checking out if you're feeling overwhelmed with your studies.

Hope this helps! Good luck with your exam prep!

UK employers and taxpayers dont appreciate liars and cheats as Accountants.

Besides if the OP hasnt passed all his exams since 2012 he wont me much of an Account any anyway.
