Just to clarify, Are you trying to generate net pay of 250+578.08 for a monthly BR employee?
828.08 is 1105.68 less 221.00 tax and 56.60 NI
Employers NI comes to 66.47
EDIT: Actually I think that might not be what you want, because maybe you want to add 250 to the normal net pay they'd get from 578.08, in which case the answer is
462.48+250=712.48
712.48 = 935.68 less 187 tax less 36.20 NI (employers NI 43.01)

I've been asked to make a net payment to of £250 to an employee today then inform our accountant to adjust the gross pay in Month 12 to reflect this. I can't ask our accountant to re-run the payroll today as she's on holiday.
The employee is on BR so I could work out the tax BUT adding the gross to the month 12 salary would put the employee into the NI bracket for the month as his salary is £578.08 per month.
I don't have a payroll program on the computer here can anyone tell me what the gross would need to be in order to pay a net of £250 in the above situation.
If you're mirroring Sage, incidentally, the answers will be slightly different (a few pennies) because Sage calculates NI a little differently from everyone else.
