Using Sage software for Lettings agency

Does anyone provide bookkeeping services for lettings agents and use Sage software?

I have been requested to set up client information for a Lettings agency and not quite sure where or how to start.

All advice welcomed

Don't know if you have some sort of Sage add-on or Lettings-specific Sage version but if you do an interent search, there are such products available. Here's one :-

If you don't actually need Sage there are four software suppliers recommended here at one of the two UK landlord societies :-

http://www.landlordzone.co.uk/software.htm

I reviewed the first one for a client just before the recession but he had too few properties to justify the top range £600ish and the basic version didn't have that many facilities to justify paying at all IMO.   I seem to recall the tax facility was income tax only, not CGT, but that may have changed.

The second one is Landlord Manager in my first link

The third one has a broken link so Quentin, who posts on here might want to point this out to the NLA

The fourth one has a freebie version which may interest you.

Hope that helps a little.

Tim

Ever since we installed Landlord Manager we have had problems with its functionality. It never did the job we purchased it for.

After over 6 months of problems we requested a refund, but were refused on the basis that there would be upgrades coming. We were told that we were not proficient enough in accounting, which is why we could not use it properly. If we were accountants we would not have needed this software in the first place.

The customer service and training were inadequate. We have had to purchase other software, which functions properly.

I would not recommend using Landlord Manager for Sage.

Thanks for the heads-up and I'm sorry to hear about the time you have wasted. It'd be great if you could share the solution which worked for you and perhaps the original poster could also post an update.

It's a bit disappointing that the broken link I referred to has not been fixed in the 5 months since I posted. In the meantime, anyone reading this thread should only take the links as a starting point for research as I was careful not to recommend any particular product.

kind regards,
Tim
