I want to post weekly comments/updates on my Linkedin profile, so that I keep appearing on my connections profiles (just a gentle reminder that I'm here if they need me).
I've looked on the HMRC website and they post news updates on there (e.g. the plumber who was jailed for tax evasion). Given that I want to do something weekly, I need a few more sites to refer to. Can anyone recommend other places where I can take interesting stories that would be relevant for SMEs?
Try the Donut websites - start up donut, marketing donut, etc.. I think these would be relavent if you are targetting SME's - after all, HMRC's are more tax focussed.
Also, if you want to link any of my blogs, you are more than welcome! :)
Looks like I might have to stop posting on here, if Bob is going to question everything I post...
Yes, I am supported, and I can contact the centre for anything I want to. However, I'm always interested on what fellow bookkeepers have to say, hence my post earlier. And, at the end of the day, it's my business!
Thanks to Rob and Nick for your feedback.
Please don't try to undermine our organisation Bob. I did look into Crunchers at the same time but didn't get very far as nobody returned my call...

Try not to worry too much Jo, it's just Bobs way. He's done it for years. Have a look through some of the old threads and you'll see what I mean. I don't think he means to be so patronising.
in which Bob is very much playing devils advocate with all bookkeepers but the rest of us aren't leaving the site and you shouldn't go down that path either.
As for the origininal request, there are always great stories in :
- The financial directors newsletter
- Accountancy age
- PQ magazine
All of them are free, the first two are daily and the last one monthly.
The last one is very much whats going on in our industry and the first two contain stories along the lines that you are looking for as well as accountancy specific topics.
See how useful it is remaining one of our merry little band!
HTH and don't let the occassional post that's totally out of character for the site put you off posting here,
kind regards,
Shaun.

@Jo - just asking, I would have thought you would had a content strategy as part of your marketing plan.
As for not returning your call, sorry. That's not like us but my guess is that a) the match would not be right b) your interest was minimal otherwise you would have called again and c) we have moved away from bookkeeping so it's probably best.
a) How do you know the match wouldn't have been right, you don't know anything about me?
b) I actually called you several times, and left 3 messages in all...
c) Interesting you have moved away from bookkeeping, yet advertise a franchise for bookkeepers and accountants. For your info, I am ICB, AAT and ACCA qualified.
That's all I'm going to say on the matter. Off to do some work now.
Jo - the way you responded to my question makes me think the match would not be right. You actually accused me of trying to undermine your organisation when all I was doing was asking a question. As a franchisor I was interested to know if your franchisor offered Social Media training/consultancy? There is loads you can do with LinkedIn and (in my opinion) should be a key marketing tool and you shouldn't need to be fishing for ideas here.
I've never heard of us missing any calls, let alone three...do you mind me asking when they were?
We've moved away from just bookkeeping in terms that we now do year-end compliance and tax planning. Some bookkeepers may not want to go the extra mile, others may. We have because we believe clients want an all in one solution. And, there is value in the tax planning.
