How to file charity accounts at Companies House
Permalink Closed

I'm doing some unpaid bookkeeping work for a local charity. We've got to the year end and I need to file the accounts at Companies House.

The accounts have been prepared in Excel. Can I use the abbreviated accounts template in Web Filing to submit the charity accounts?

Hi!
I don't know the answer for your question but would be interested what the reason is for you filing abbreviated accounts. I know it is common practice but surely to have abbreviated accounts you will have to have full accounts first. Is it because you don't want to publish too much information right now? Full accounts will be public anyway with Charity Commission but a later date? Or do you not have to file full accounts to CC? Or is it because it is what a lot of people do?

If I'm honest it's because the notes the previous book-keeper left me said we need to file abbreviated accounts, although they didn't say why or how. Not great I know.
