Nope, not a question about it but rather sharing a little something that I came accross today.
Did you know that in order to get their firm names out there and attract clients partners in some accountancy firms are expected to be in at least twenty unique clubs, associations or societies.
Unique in that context just means bodies that no other partner in the practice has counted towards their twenty.
I was begining to wonder why there were so many golf / tennis / yaughting clubs around and now I know.
So, question to ask yourself this evening as part of your marketing campaign. What twenty clubs, societies or associations should I join that will bring in clients for my business?
They have to bodies where you meet people and cannot be your professional bodies as that's just meeting competitors rather than customers.
Oh, and to make it more fun, the bodies that you think of must have at least thirty members and have some hope that some of them are people with their own busiesses.
Right. to work people. There's empires to build out there....

I think hat it's more being part of the groups that gets you and your firms name out there rtaher than necessarily direct conversion to clients.
... anyway, that's one down, 19 to go... So your one up on me already

oh dear, 20?!
(Not sure when I'd have time to do actual work, lol)
Makes one think that you can either be selling the company to clients or working but not both.
Guess we'll all have to take up sailing and hire people to do the work.
Yeh, bookkeeping just became an aspirational lifestyle!

No particular order; some of these could count as more than one entry, of course, but that makes up for some of them being similar!
1. Class of X Reunion Group 2. Residents Association 3. Local Church Tea Group 4. [Your favourite sport] Club 5. [Your favourite hobby] Club 6. Your facebook, etc Page (if you exclude work colleagues, it satisfies their requirements for uniqueness - assuming you have enough friends!) 7. The local pub (not strictly a club, but it *is* a meeting place for like-minded individuals) 8. Your child's school's PTA 9. Your local Community Centre's association 10. Writing articles for [your favourite charity]'s newsletter 11. Your local nightclub (some high-flying twenty-somethings with new businesses probably go there) 12. [Your favourite niggle]'s Pressure Group 13. Meeting the parents of your child's groups 14. Cadets / TA / other military volunteering 15. Local hotel's health club or gym 16. [Your political party]'s membership 17. Amateur radio society [you can recruit over the radio!] 18. Online users groups (especially for business software) 19. [Your favourite store]'s store card cardholder events 20. This forum.

great list.
I think that there may already be too many "experts" in my local watering holes but I espechially like the idea of the political party membership one and think that it could have some considerable benefit (just hope that they don't come looking for campaign contributions!).
Nice one Rob.
