Favourite radio station to listen to at work

Just wondering what the most popular radio station for book-keepers to listen to whilst working is?

My current favourite is Absolute 80's - great for stressful afternoon's like today! smile

I'm a radio one fan too!

Chris Moyles in the morning.

Has anyone heard Greg James impression of Hillary Duvet?  Its brilliant.  His slot has moved now and hes on I think at 4pm.

Not a radio station as such but the Opentuition lectures are quite good background listening for the one's that don't need you to look at a screen.

I'm more of a stress carrier than sufferer biggrin

I listen to radio WM in the car on the way to pick my boy up from school and the Danny Kelly show seems to have baggsies on all those people deemed too stupid for the Jerremy Kyle show!

Actually, that's unfair as there are a lot of great contributors come on there but I'm relatively sure that Danny's listening figures are only so high out of peoples morbid curiousity as to what nutter has leant how to use a phone today!

You know what's going to happen as soon as you get the opening "Now, I've got nothing against ___________ myself but...... " or "Some of my best freinds are __________ but....".

On the bright side though at least Danny tells em that they're morons.

Last time I listened to Radio 1 Chris Evans was still on the morning show... Now he's on Radio 2 which also nows plays pink floyd and led zep.... God how old am I getting the Floyd and Zep are on radio 2... And I know that!

Actually, I only know because it's played in the canteen of an insurance company that I sort the IT systems out for.

I work later hours than most people so tend to listen to Radio One up till 6pm then listen to the Radio Clyde football phone-in from 6pm to 8pm. Then it's back to Radio One. The last two years have been brilliant because of what was happening with Neil Lennon/Celtic last season and Rangers this season. There are some right screwballs that phone in at times. One of them is going to explode one of these days. "Tommy fae Glasgow". They know on the radio at what point they will have to cut him off because he always speeds up before getting louder.

Here's a new one for you - taking an everyday topic and then going off-topic and turning it into a bookkeeping/tax topic. I recently bought a refurbished PC for my bookkeeping side of things. So I'm "claiming" it on my tax return. I like to listen to music while working so rather than have a radio on I'll sometimes put a youtube video in one of the browser tabs and listen to a concert (now that they allow longer vids). This is in the background while I work. If I wasn't working at my PC the music wouldn't be on. I'm not watching the video just listening to it. Does this then mean it is no longer a business expense because I am using it for personal reasons as well? Or if I download Spotify would that then turn it into a personal PC rather than a business PC? I've got the computer on anyway so it saves using up power on my radio. I'll repeat - the music is only on while I am working. I could bung a cd in the drive I suppose but it really is a lot easier and quicker on the net.

Hi Peasie

My view on that, is it would be incidental and not change the nature of the use of the PC. Otherwise White Van Man would be in trouble turning his van radio on while travelling to his next delivery biggrin

Edit: Forgot to add that I tend to listen to online personalised "stations" like Jango.com. because i like particular genres which are difficult to find on conventional radio stations

Edit again: Also forgot to say that i dont actually listen to the radio when I am working, or driving. I find it to distracting

Bill

This may sound a bit weird, but I have a tv set about 18 inches from my bed (where my head lies) and at night I tend to put "Planet Rock" on and leave it on. Eventually the satellite box will switch itself off and I'll just be left with snow and by that time I'm usually sleeping and it doesn't wake me. I'm just amazed this big blue screen doesn't keep me awake. Shows it is easy to sleep with a light on. (Beavis and Butthead sniggering at the obvious joke).

Bill - it was more the downloading of Spotify that was worrying me. Although, do they (HMRC) go to that level, checking what software you have installed?

Think I must be showing my age as I find it difficult to concentrate with the radio on now but when trying to block out other background noise and people talking, on come the headphones and Radio 4 is first choice and for some music, well it has to be Radio 3

Well that takes the anti radio contingent up to three then. wink

Good call on noticing the flag... Maybe Roz is trying to get a message to us that she's being imprisoned against her will!!!... Think maybe I saw too many episodes of Skippy as a child (What's that Skip, the kids are trapped down the well?).

Sorry, bit crazy today as just had a seriously frustrating hour with a client who thinks that the company buys the car because it's out of their price range but because they own the company then they see it that the car belongs to them so they can claim mileage as well as having the company paying for the car.

No, no, no, no, no....

I listen (well it's on in the background) to 5Live. On Saturday's 4. I find the radio keeps me company and don't do silence.
