Sage 50 - Subcontractor Payment
Permalink Closed

Good morning everyone

Please can someone advise me on the following problem:-

I have a CIS subcontractor on our SAGE 50, prior to installing this the previous bookkeeper put him as a supplier on an earlier version of SAGE.

Any invoices that were put on prior to the new version still show the tax amount as outstanding.

I have paid this out of the bank as part of the lump sum P32 payment for Month 12 and am not sure how I am going to journal these oustanding amounts, I know one side will be to credit the CIS tax liability, 2101 (as DR it on the P32 journal, but how can I Dr the subcontractors account or mark these as paid without duplicated the paymnent from the bank?

Thanks

Lisa

Just thought is the easiest (though not necessarily the tidiest) was to pay them again from the bank then DR the amount from the bank and CR 2101 (CIS Tax control account)?

Hi Lisa,

Where are these amounts outstanding?  On the Supplier accounts or on the CIS tax liability account?

Do you have a Dr balance currently on the CIS account?

If you have the scenario I think you have, i.e. you have balances left on the Suppliers account then all you need to do is to create dummy credit notes on each Supplier account and use the CIS control account as the nominal code.  That will Dr the Supplier account and Cr the CIS control account.  This should bring the control account to zero and all you will need to do then is to go into Bank - Supplier and match off the credit notes with the amounts remaining.
