Anyone used Taxcafe books?
Permalink Closed

Hi all,

has anyone had any experience of using tax guides from Tax cafe?

Their site looks awful  with lousy navigation and no way of buying multiples from a single page which is irritating... However, reading the index pages of their books they seem to have a great product which goes well beyond the normal basics of thesee sort of books and they are all written by CTA's and ACA's.

Before parting with any of my hard earned. Has anyone else had any expereince of this companies products?

Kind regards,

Shaun.

P.S. Here's a link to their site : http://www.taxcafe.co.uk/index.html

Afternoon Shaun. I purchased the Tax Cafe guide to the worlds best tax havens about a year ago. Quality was very good from a down to earth author who assumes no accounting or tax experience. Very much focussed on a business owner/investor so although good as an overview not that detailed for a bookkeeper or accountant.

I don't think you'd be able to advise clients soley based on the info in the book, more a general overview and then go and see an accountant etc. I enjoyed it though.

Cheers Stuart,

I had specifically been looking at "Capital Allowances", "Tax Saving Tactics for Motorists","Using a Company to Save Tax" and possibly "Small Business tax saving tactics".

Just reading the titles I think, o.k. I know where to look all that stuff up anyway. What can these books give me that I don't already have access to? And then you read the indexes which read very comprehensive on the subject matter.

However, from the sound of your reply like the foyers of many hotels it looks as though it may go downhill from there in (well from our requirements level perspective anyway).

Hope that the one that you read hasn't done a disservice to the other books in the series,

thanks again for the reply,

kind regards,

Shaun.

I found their 'Property Capital Gains Tax Calculator' quite helpful as I've not studied the subject in depth and three cases cropped up at once about 5 years ago. None of the three sold up before the property market dried up.

The Google result for this is saying File Not Found and I can't recall what I paid for it. It doesn't seem to be for sale on their website anymore but its the same picture of the author, albeit facing the other way round lol

Tim
